Caregiver Tea

Who Cares for the Caregiver?
A Caregiver Tea for Respite

A caregiver is someone, paid or unpaid, who helps a client, friend, or family member with activities of daily living (ADLs), medical issues, or financial affairs as the result of a illness, surgery, or terminal diagnosis. The care provided is either in the care recipient's home or in a long-term care facility.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Caring Across Generations Websites, approximately 25 percent of adults provide care for someone with a long-term illness or disability. That number is expected to increase as the people age 65 years old or older will double from 2000 to 2030 to 71 million people. As the reality of being a caregiver increases, many find themselves caring for family members and also raising children, "Sandwich Generation ". These increasing demands can cause stress and anxiety, which can affect and effect the physical health and mental well-being of the caregiver.

Current and past caregivers, we invite you to join us for a time of respite at The Pauline Tea-Bar Apothecary. There will be speakers to discuss self-care topics for caregivers and a time of reflection and connection. The cost is $10 per person and covers tea and refreshments. Please feel free to invite other caregivers. We look forward to you joining us at this peaceful and calming environment as you "unplug"!
